Aristos Michaelides was born in 1959 in Temvria, Solea. He graduated from the Greek Gymnasium of Solea and after serving in the army, studied journalism and architectural design – which he never worked in – in Athens. He participated in a series of seminars and conferences on the design and updating of newspapers and has been working in the Cypriot press since 1983, first as an Athens correspondent.

In 1991, he contributed to the development of the periodical press in Cyprus as editor of Phileleftheros’ first magazine, Selides, where he worked for six years. He then left to take over the launch of Politis, where he was editor in chief during the newspaper’s first six years of operation. He returned to Phileleftheros as editor in chief in 2006, participating in the design and development of a new era for the historic Cypriot newspaper. He is married to Eleni Eftychiou and they have two children, Ioli and Alecos. Back
